Qui n’a pas rêvé à la vue d’un navire qui, toutes voiles dehors, fend l’écume et s’éloigne vers l’horizon.
Certaines ou certains d’entres nous, portés par leurs rêves, ont franchit le pas et ont souhaité parcourir les mers.
Ainsi, il y a une trentaine d’années, Annie et Bernard ont confié au chantier AMEL la construction d’un Super Maramu qu’ils baptiserons par la suite ALBACORE IV.
Battant pavillon Canadien, ce magnifique voilier sera leur compagnon de vie durant vingt huit ans et traversera sans doute plusieurs fois l’Atlantique.
On imagine aisément qu’elle pût être leur douleur de s’en séparer et, au cours de l’année 2018, c’est un autre amoureux de la mer qui assura la relève à la barre d’ALBACORE.
Olivier, un homme attachant et tout en couleur, prendra alors le cap sur la Méditerranée et durant trois années veillera sur son navire avec toute son affection.
Un voilier n’est pas un bien de consommation. A nos yeux, c’est une entité possédant sa propre identité et qui, au cours de son histoire, a reçu souvent l’amour et un peu de l’âme de ses propriétaires.
Un voilier se transmet bien plus qu’il ne s’achète et lorsque nous nous sommes mis en quête de notre futur bateau, nous espérions bien vivre une véritable transmission.
C’est au cours du premier trimestre 2020 que nous avons fait la connaissance d’ALBACORE IV et de son propriétaire.
Nous avons eu la chance et l’honneur d’être apprécié d’Olivier et c’est donc sur nous qu’a porté son choix.
Au travers de cet article, nous souhaitons le remercier et lui rendre hommage.
Hommage à l’homme tout d’abord, pour sa bonne humeur et ses qualités humaines, mais aussi pour le marin et les soins qu’il a apporté à son voilier.
Lorsque que nous avons pris possession d’ALBACORE, nous avions bien conscience que c’était pour lui une déchirure. Nous lui avons promis que nous ferions de notre mieux pour prendre sa suite et être à la hauteur d’un tel voilier.
Nous lui avions promis également qu’il pourrait, à nouveau, envoyer ses couleurs dans la mâture.

A bord d’ALBACORE IV
Who has not dreamed of the sight of a ship which, under full sail, cuts through the foam and moves away towards the horizon.
Some of us, carried by our dreams, took the plunge and wanted to travel the seas.
Thus, around thirty years ago, Annie and Bernard entrusted the AMEL shipyard with the construction of a Super Maramu which they would subsequently name ALBACORE IV.
Flying the Canadian flag, this magnificent sailboat will be their life companion for twenty-eight years and will undoubtedly cross the Atlantic several times.
We can easily imagine that it could have been their pain to part with it and, during the year 2018, it was another lover of the sea who took over at the helm of ALBACORE.
Olivier, an endearing and colorful man, will then set sail for the Mediterranean and for three years will watch over his ship with all his affection.
A sailboat is not a consumer good. In our eyes, it is an entity with its own identity and which, throughout its history, has often received the love and a bit of the soul of its owners.
A sailboat is passed down much more than it can be bought and when we set out in search of our future boat, we hoped to experience a real transmission.
It was during the first quarter of 2020 that we got to know ALBACORE IV and its owner.
We had the chance and the honor to be appreciated by Olivier and it was therefore on us that his choice fell.
Through this article, we wish to thank him and pay tribute to him.
Tribute to the man first of all, for his good humor and his human qualities, but also for the sailor and the care he gave to his sailboat.
When we took possession of ALBACORE, we were well aware that it was a heartbreak for him. We promised him that we would do our best to follow in his footsteps and be worthy of such a sailboat.
We also promised him that he could once again send his colors to the mast.
